If Love Was

If love was the water of a winding stream

in a clearing for all to see

Out in the water as in a dream

the world would see you and me

And amidst the grass on a rolling hill

if love was a flower, too

I'd pick the flower and lie tranquil

thinking of my love for you

Or if love was the song of a mockingbird

echoing through the night

I'd have no need to utter a word

to explain why I feel alright

Just to know that your love is all around

'cause you are the water and the flower and the song I've found
